Positive: Don’t expect a 5 star stay but if you're traveling on a budget it has what you need and it’s nice and close to the park. If you want to stay in the jungle, this is it. Yes you will get some bugs in your room but the sounds of nature out here are to die for and the host Manuel is so kind. He gave us a tour of their garden and arranged transport early in the morning on the day of our departure to our shuttle bus. Not perfect but lots of character.

Negative: You're in the jungle so there may be bugs, part of the experience though! haha

Positive: I loved the gardens, it was really nice, I could see birds and trees from my room. I really enjoyed waking up with all the nature sounds and their delicious breakfast.

Negative: They didn’t have hot water

Positive: Good value and location, just about 35min from the entrance to Semuc Champey. The staff is very friendly and helped me with the shuttle to my next destination. They offer cheap breakfast and lunch/dinner onsite.

Negative: Cold showers but it’s in the jungle so I didn’t expect anything else.

Positive: A little gem. I above all loved the atmosphere of this place and the staff working there. They were so friendly, interesting and helpful. It was the perfect environment to chill but also to chat and exchange stories with the staff and fellow travelers. The garden is absolutely beautiful. They have different choices for food at reasonable prices. It is located about 40 min walk from the unique reserve of Semuc Champey. The rooms and bathrooms are a bit rustic but I knew that when I booked and I wanted this kind of experience.

Summary: Wouldn't stay anywhere else in the area

Positive: Kinda remote but not expensive. It's a great place if you wanna spend a night or two and walk to the river instead of paying for a ride. The host was nice and friendly, the dorms are basic, few comfy beds on the floor

Negative: A lot of traffic from the working site on the road. This is relevant to the beginning of October 2024

Positive: Really lovely hostel in nature and in walkable distance to Semuc Champey. The staff are lovely and super helpful and it was so nice and clean.

Negative: I was the only guest which was fine, but if you’re looking for a more social atmosphere this may not be your best option. In saying that, it was not peak season.
